somatic therapy & embodiment

somatic therapy & embodiment •

Somatic Intuitive Healing (SIH) + embodiment is a holistic modality that views the body as having an innate, brilliant capacity to heal itself. This practice focuses on the profound physiological reorganization of the nervous system, allowing individuals to move past intellectual narratives to address the "body stuff" of trauma. By prioritizing the internal "felt experience" over external form, this work creates a physical container for deep systemic repair and the liberation of both the body and ancestral lineage.

This sacred space is designed for individuals prepared to move past the intellectual narrative of their trauma and engage in the profound physiological restructuring of their nervous system. Operating as a separate, ancillary service from primary therapy, this work centers on the liberation of the body and ancestral lineage.

an important note

This offering is a specialized somatic container focused on physiological reorganization, which differs from traditional psychotherapy where verbal processing is at the center of the process. while i do provide this as a service,

I am not currently accepting new psychotherapy clients at this time.

If your journey requires a space primarily for narrative processing and storytelling, I recommend joining my therapy waitlist or connecting with a provider who specializes in that modality to ensure your system is fully supported.

I am currently pursuing a dual certification as a Somatic Intuitive Healing (SIH) Practitioner and Somatic Embodiment Guide & Yoga Teacher through the

dual certification & their role in integration of psychotherapy

To help you understand the specific practices I am bringing into our space, I’ve broken down the two paths of my current dual certification. These practices are rooted in the belief that the body and mind heal from the "bottom-up"—starting with the physiology to settle the spirit.

Somatic Intuitive Healing (SIH)

This path is an advanced biodynamic somatic therapy training that focuses on the deep, internal rhythms of the body. It’s about creating a safe environment where your nervous system can reorganize itself naturally.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Principles: We listen to the subtle "tides" of the body—the fluid and tissue rhythms—to resolve deep-seated patterns of tension and trauma.

Polyvagal Attunement: We use the science of the nervous system to identify states of "fight, flight, or freeze," helping you map your way back to safety and connection.

Collaborative Touch & Presence: Instead of a "fixer" and a "patient," we work as partners. I use gentle, hands-on touch and deep listening to support what your body is trying to communicate in the moment.

Integrative flow: This work also pulls from Polarity TherapyQigong, and Somatic Experiencing to ensure we are tending to both the physical and energetic layers of your being.

Somatic Embodiment Guide & Yoga

While the SIH path is often quiet and hands-on, the Embodied Guide path is about movement, breath, and active facilitation.

Somatic Yoga (Restorative & Hatha): We use yoga postures as "medicine" for the nervous system. Rather than focusing on a "perfect pose," we prioritize the "felt experience"—how the movement feels from the inside out.

Creative Propping: We use bolsters, blankets, and blocks to support the body in long, restorative holds, allowing the nervous system to fully let go and enter a state of deep repair.

Intuitive Movement & Breathwork: This includes practices like free dancing, shaking, and specific breath patterns to help discharge "stuck" energy and balance the Yin and Yang energies within your system.

Earth-Based Spirituality: Our movement is informed by a connection to the elements and a philosophy that honors the body as a vehicle for deep spiritual connection.

understanding somatic therapy & embodiment

emphasis on collaboration

In this space, your agency and pace are the highest priority. We work collaboratively to ensure your system feels safe and witnessed at every stage.

The Clinical Partnership: This work is most effective when done in tandem with narrative-based support. Ideally, you are currently working with a primary therapist or another provider who holds the space for Narrative Integration—the storytelling, the cognitive processing, and the exploration of your "why".

The Somatic Focus: My role is to hold the Physiological Reorganization—the somatic shifts and nervous system regulation. I lend my nervous system as a resource to support yours in figuring out what regulation looks and feels like.

Layers of Propping: This dual approach creates multiple layers of support. While your therapist supports your story, I offer "propping" for your physiology, bolstered by the deep resource of ancestral wisdom.

The Synergy: Together, these layers allow us to focus deeply on your nervous system’s spaciousness without the pressure of needing to explain or narrate the trauma during our somatic sessions.

“am i a good fit for somatic-based work?”

This work is an invitation to slow down and listen. It is ideal for those who feel a call to the following:

A Commitment to Long-term Investment: You recognize that the nervous system does not change overnight. You are ready to invest in a slow, unhurried pace that honors the years—or generations—it takes to truly shift. You have the capacity to commit to a consistent, recurring rhythm of sessions to allow the work to fully saturate your system.

Moving Beyond the "Post-Narrative" Phase: You may be currently engaged in talk therapy and have a clear understanding of your trauma story, but you’ve realized that understanding the "why" hasn't stopped the "why" from living in your body. You are ready to stop talking about the trauma and start reorganizing how it sits in your system.

Lineage & Intergenerational Healing: You identify as holding intergenerational trauma and are ready to tap into your ancestry as a resource. You want to heal not just for yourself, but for the generations that came before and those that follow.

The Practice of Co-Regulation: You are looking for a practitioner who can "lend" you their regulated system—providing the grounding and propping you need until you are ready to hold that activation on your own.

Collective & Relational Propping: You are part of a couple, a polycule, a deep friendship, or a community that wants to learn how to prop each other up. You want to build tools together so your collective nervous system can find more spaciousness.

spiritual & ancestral integration

i receive active guidance in this deeply energetic work through my ancestors and spiritual traditions of my West African indigeneity. I lean deeply into the intuition of my lineage and the spiritual practices embedded in my blood to offer a layered approach to healing.

Ancestral Attunement as a Layer of Support: We welcome your ancestors to the table as vital players; they provide a profound layer of support, offering messaging and information essential for your path.

Lineage Healing: Tapping into your own ancestry is a game-changer for moving generations of trauma that have been passed down and stored in the nervous system.

Spirit & Earth: We incorporate the elements—earth, spirit, and ancestral connection—into the healing journey to move energetic material that narrative-based work alone cannot reach.

Deepening the Container: By bringing in these spiritual and ancestral layers, we create a more expansive "propping" system, allowing your nervous system to lean into resources that extend far beyond the individual.

pacing & structure

Because we are moving trauma stored for generations, this work cannot be rushed. I set this expectation to protect both our nervous systems. I ask for a minimum commitment of one year, with an ideal commitment of three years.

an example of The One-Year Rhythm

We follow a developmental arc—much like a newborn needing constant tending before finding independence:

Months 1–4 (Weekly): Deep trust-building and "saturation" of our relationship while establishing your regulation tools. Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes.

Months 5–8 (Bi-Weekly): Active co-regulation; I witness and support you as you practice tending to your own activation. Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes.

Months 9–12 (Monthly): Focused integration and allowing the new spaciousness to fully land in your system. Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes.

caveat: i would like to emphasize that somatic interventions work best when more time is allowed for true integration into the nervous system. while i shared an example of what it looks like over the course of one year, these “phases” can take years to establish.

I do not bill insurance for this service, and as such, it is a financial commitment. you are welcome to pursue reimbursement through a superbill which i can provide at the time of service.

please note that if you have Medicaid, you must disclose this insurance clearly. There is a specific process for Medicaid recipients that requires a particular form to be completed in order to pay out-of-pocket for these services.

Current Training Rates: Because I am currently in advanced training for these specific somatic certifications, my current fee structure is intentionally set to reflect my status as a Practitioner-in-Training. This allows you to access this depth of work at a specialized rate while I finalize my dual certification.

Equity & Sliding Scale: I hold 5 slots for sliding scale options, available upon request for those who need a different entry point into this work.

Please note that session fees are scheduled to update to standard clinical/practitioner rates upon the completion of my certification in mid-2027.
